About Me

Aside from swimming, I have lots of things that keep me busy away from the pool.

I do some swim coaching, which can range from 1-2-1 lessons all the way up to clinics involving upwards of 20 swimmers. This is a really great way to pass on some of the knowledge I have gathered through my experiences and achievements as a swimmer. See the swim clinics tab for more information about my next clinic and how to get involved.

I have lots of personal interests, most of which I struggle to stay on top of, as I am always trying out something new. Im fascinated by biology, wildlife and the environment. Learning about these never fails to amaze me and I find nature constantly inspiring and breathtaking. I am a big fan of pretty much anything David Attenborough has narrated or been involved with, and would love to have a job like his, and I think he would be definitely somebody I would love to meet if the opportunity ever arose. I also enjoy politics and law, I try to keep up to date but I can be pretty rubbish at doing it as I never seem to have any time. After I am done with swimming I would be interested in pursuing a career in law, maybe even study a qualification part time whilst I am still swimming.

I love DVDs (of TV shows and movies) because of my swimming I can not always watch the things I want when they are on TV or out in the cinema. So I have a very extensive DVD collection which allows me to catch up and watch all the things I want in my own time, and I am a bit of a film buff. I own a PS3, an XBOX 360 and a Wii so as you can imagine I like playing computer games too, when I can find the time. Also, I have a stack of books which I really should be making my way through, but I never seem to find the time to read them, unless I go away, usually with swimming, and then I am a bit of a book worm. I enjoy listening to music, and have a very large and eclectic music collection, so I always have something to listen to that suits my mood.

Having finished my university degree and masters, I am taking a break from any formal full time education. However I am interested in pursuing a career in law once my swimming career is over. As I am a non law graduate, I need to complete a GDL before I go on to do the LPC and then commence a training contract in order to qualify as a solicitor.

Last but not least, I have a great group of friends that I have met through swimming. Some I still swim with now, others I do not get to see as often, but value none the less. I love and appreciate them all, and am really grateful for having them around me. So whenever I can I like to spend time with them, whether it is just chilling out or going out for coffee or food.

I think my favourite possession that I own is a tie between my Apple iPhone and my MacBook Pro. I think Apple make such great products, that are just so easy to use. However they are expensive so a lot of saving up was required before I bought either of them. I think my iPhone might just win though because it combines music, video, internet and being in contact with my friends, all in one small gadget I can carry anywhere with me, (except in the pool!) and although I would not want to be without my MacBook Pro, it is not quite as convenient to carry everywhere with me.

So I hope you have learnt a little about me, and enjoy the rest of my website!
